Our own tooling

A CMS we built ourselves

A headless CMS separates your content from the page it appears on. That sounds technical, but what it really changes is how much work you do twice. We built one, and there is already a site running on it.

What "headless" means

In a traditional system, the content and the presentation are welded together. Your text, your prices and your images live inside the same software that draws the page. As long as nothing changes, you never notice.

A headless CMS pulls the two apart. The content sits in one place, structured and standing on its own, and is fetched from there. Whatever displays it is a second, replaceable thing: a website, a second website, an app, a screen in a shop.

The difference shows the first time something is rebuilt. A new design no longer means somebody carrying every piece of content across by hand. The content stays where it is and gets a different face.

For you

What it changes for your business

You edit your own words

Prices, opening hours, a new offer: you type it and it is on the site. No ticket, no waiting for someone to have an hour free.

A redesign does not cost you your content

When the site is rebuilt, everything written stays. What gets rebuilt is the presentation. That is the part that eats the time in a conventional move.

The site stays fast

Pages are built ahead of time and served finished, rather than assembled on every visit. Visitors notice, and so do search engines.

One piece of content, several places

The same description of a service can sit on the website, appear in an app and run on a screen. It gets written once.

For the build

What it changes for the people building your site

Content over a clean interface

Content comes out structured, not as finished HTML. What happens to it is decided by the site, not by the system behind it.

The front end is free

No theme system to bend to. A site can look and behave exactly the way your business needs it to, rather than the way a template allows.

Each side changes on its own

The design can be worked on without touching the content, and the other way round. Fewer places where one change knocks something else over.

Less to attack

What gets served is finished files. The place the content is managed is not sitting open on the internet waiting for the next security patch.

In practice

Two websites, one set of content: margeoma.ch

Margeoma is a family-run cleaning company working in Zürich and Aargau. The site exists twice: a classic version, calm and direct, and a 3D scroll story you move through. Visitors choose, and can switch whenever they like.

Not open yet

For now we use the CMS on our own projects. cms.georitham.ch serves a short page saying exactly that. When it is ready, it should be open. We are not naming a date until we can keep one.

Early access

Does that sound like something you could use? Send us a short message. We will let you know when it is ready, and you will not hear from us about it otherwise.
